Rock ‘n Roll Valentines
Now that I’m finally sick-free (first it was possible pneumonia, then found out it was actually whooping cough) I got to do my Valentine shoot for Jordan and Jackson. I’d been really looking forward to doing it because it had a music theme as both of them are musicians and it wasn’t the normal cutesy style photo shoot. When we arrived at the house, Iskra (from Vixen Express) got to work on Jordan’s make-up and half way through Jackson played us the song the two of them wrote together (with alot of encouragement from his Mum haha). It’s not everyday you go to a client’s house and get a free concert in their dining room! The shoot itself was an absolute breeze, just got them to do their thing and I snapped away. Pretty sure this is my favourite couples shoot ever!
The night before when packing my gear for the shoot I found this record. Call it a lame flash back of my youth, but it was a MUST HAVE for the shoot and got them to hold it up!

A horrid day for a Valentine shoot
Having been sick the last couple weeks has put me behind in my blogging, and sadly put a hold on my Valentine shoots BUT I managed to get one done beforehand and it was the worst weather for a sunny happy Valentine shoot in the park! Big grey clouds covered the skies and by the time we were heading to the location it was getting darker and starting to sprinkle. Tried to make it all as quick as possible incase it decided to pour down on us – which thankfully it didn’t it waited til I was on my way home – and call it a day. The best part was I discovered how to make someone laugh without needing to learn any jokes at all! WIN!!

Laneway Markets
Last weekend I took part in the OnWilliam Laneway markets which was part of Fringe Festival and also the same weekend as the Chinese New Year festival in Northbridge..not that we saw anything. But we heard random loud noises like explosions going off so I assume that it was awesome!
Saturday was deathly hot. Both myself and Pip who was there to amuse me were just too hot to care about what happened. One stall was selling icy poles. They were AWESOME!! I ate 2 because there were no drink vendors and I couldn’t be bothered walking to the deli down the street and just to emphasise the heatstroke levels – Pip sent txts to get people to deliver us drinks so we didn’t have to move! Early in the day there was a crew filming and interviewing stalls for the community tv station. When they got to the stall next to mine I ran in the opposite direction. At one point during the day I had two guys stop to check out the Pin-up calendar I had for sale – and asked if I was the model. I’m not sure which month he was on but I had to laugh and say no. I don’t think he believed me though :/ The highlight of the night was seeing these guys suddenly come through in sleeveless shirts, short shorts and big pink feather boas – I mean that would get anyone’s attention! They were promoting their show ‘Briefs’. 10pm was pack up time and one of the ladies from 2 stalls down points at me saying I’ve changed colour. I guess my expression must have been a good one because she points at her face and tells me they were basically freaking out because I was really red and they didn’t know CPR!

Sunday was a MUCH cooler day but the sun was still a bit nasty and I had to rearrange my stall a few times to stop things getting sweaty. This time my helper was Amy. We got bored for a little bit so I sat there making ugly zombie pictures of her with my phone
There was a heaps better crowd that day and I had heaps of people stopping by to take a look or ask questions. Even had a couple photographers stop and chat. One guy came out of nowhere and suddenly announces “you are the daughter of……” which got him a jaw-dropping ‘huh?’ expression. He had the wrong person. Considering there were 3 other photographer setups that day I think I did pretty well and it was a much better crowd to other events I’ve been a part of. There was alot of mixed reactions over the weekend, some had a giggle, there were lots of “awe cute” over baby photos and one woman covered her sons eyes as they walked past my table. I think it was the zombie poster that did it. At the end of the night we went to check out what was left of the Chinese New Year festivities and all we saw was some Canadian street performer getting abused by a Northbridge ‘native’ as Amy put it and rubbish. HEAPS of rubbish. We weren’t sure what belly dancing had to do with anything so headed back towards PICA and found Betty Boop cartoons playing. No better way to end the night, beautiful cool air (it was really really windy) and Betty Boop!
