Halloween Shoot: Porcelain Doll
During the Halloween themed photo shoot I had a “Porcelain Doll”..For some reason people are really creeped out by them so I wanted to try and make her really doll like but ended up doing normal portrait editing but going a bit further with clearing the skin and I highlighted the eyes more so the colour really stood out. Porcelain dolls have such clear smooth skin but their eyes have are bright and full of detail (possibly why they are creepy!).
I really wanted to add a crack to her face since some of the antique doll pictures we looked at had cracked and broken heads. Finally found some I liked that worked really well. They weren’t too over the top and were a decent size as well so there was no blurring when making it bigger. I didn’t want to go overboard with the cracked look because it would detract from the overall effect. When I was doing it I was picturing the Living Dead Dolls in my head!

To finish it off I added a texture and made it b+w. Most of the pics that day look awesome in b+w but this one I think they both work. Makes it tough! I’ve been told its pretty creepy. But it was Halloween and there’s nothing cutesy about the day :p

Zombies!
Tuesday I had a zombie trial shoot at the cemetery. We were testing out makeup and seeing how long it took to do. Amee was up first and we stuck the “scar” on her face and that took just under an hour. Next up was my bro and for him we put the “broken bone” on his arm and that took about 30mins. Makeup was pretty much the same so once the first one was done Janey knew exactly what to do for the next.
We took the “walking” shots, and the “we’re going to get you even though there’s a big fence in the way” shots and of course the “eating” shots..I forgot to do the hand shot
So far I’ve only done a quick edit/play around. They look awesome if I do say so myself in b+w, the green one wasn’t fully intentional (I was in channels to make the grass greener) but it’s interesting.
