Warhol inspired.

[Note: I was watching Fringe and Jared Harris who I always refer too as 'Andy Warhol' cos he played him in "I Shot Andy Warhol" was in it..I got inspired!]

Anyone thats a friend of mine knows that I am one big Andy Warhol groupie!! HUUUUUUGE groupie…to prove my dedication I once stole a library book written by Ultra Violet (seriously how COOL is that name?!) just cos it mentioned him. While he isn’t a true talent next to Pablo and Salvador or The Pre-Raphelites, I think he is totally awesome and want to be just like him. I want my own Factory! I want a big massive studio to take photos, make prints (How I miss printmaking!!) and have parties where I’ll be lurking in the shadows taking photos…one day!! I even have random things in common..such as allergies, wearing black, being a hoarder, a fascination with death and celebrities, and making trashy movies ;)

Anyways..to share my love of Pop Art I made this up. The photo is from the Kittie Chaos shoot I did. Lillie-Jean HATES it and think she looks like a drag queen :p

Sandwich Artist

These are old photos taken back in 1996 while I was studying Fine Arts.  I spent alot of time in the darkroom in those three years and with these I was experimenting with sandwiching negatives.

Manipulating Film

I love film and what you can do with it, or try to do with it. I’ve taken photos on film using colour filters, cellophane and random cloth to see what happens. I’ve also scratched up negatives and even stuck one in an oven just to see what happened! That was seriously uneventful – the oven that is. A lady I was at tafe with at the time did an experiment placing processed film in one of her garden pots and randomly pulling it out to get a print made over so many months. Magnificent images!! The final one looked like a big fuzzy teddy bear.

Scratched up

This shot was from a shoot I did in 1997.  It was something I’d done to my Barbie doll (I like defacing them) that I wanted to do to an actual person, and for some reason people still volunteer for my shoots ;) The shoot involved her being dressed in alfoil and standing under Tungsten lights. She was roasting. The 2nd half of the film I had her painted blue with the alfoil dress still on.

This was the first shot on the film that NEVER gets processed because its called “0″ and not “1″. I scratched it up and used some textas on it and told them to print it.

Scratched Up

Second semester of Fine Arts you have to shoot nudes for the photography class. Shoot them or fail. Both genders as well. There wasn’t any room in that course for prudes. I had to do the female shoot twice (film didn’t process right the first time) and the guy shoot was a disaster. First he chickened out and didn’t show up…so I cornered him in class and told him he’s taking his shirt off now! The photos are dead flat. Thats going to happen though when the brick wall is also white. I tried some darkroom manipulation and ended up with one print looking like he had worms. 2 years later I decided to scratch it up. Now its one of my fav old shots.

Cellophane. First photo is with a flash, 2nd photo outdoor lighting playing with exposures.
